Schema markup is structured data that labels your content: this is an article, this is a local business, this is an FAQ, this is the author. It removes guesswork. Schema is not decoration. It is how you tell a machine what the page is, in a language it does not have to interpret. The rest of the technical checklist
A few more basics that matter more than they sound:
- HTTPS. Serve your site securely. Browsers flag sites that do not, and security is a ranking signal.
- No broken links or redirect chains. They waste crawl budget and annoy visitors.
- Canonical tags. Tell Google which version of a page is the real one so duplicates do not compete with each other.
- Fix errors first. In Search Console, start with pages flagged as errors, then work down. You do not have to fix everything at once.
I once checked a marketing company’s own website out of curiosity. Slow load, crawl issues, a mediocre technical score.
